Introduction to “Getting the Sleep You Need”
In 1910, people in the United States averaged 9 hours of sleep each night. Today, the average adult sleeps less than 7 hours a night. Healthy employees are an asset to any successful organization. However, for many employees, an unhealthy lifestyle, stress, sleep disorders, or other health problems are robbing them of quality sleep. The consequences? Employees who experience slow reaction time, mood problems, impaired decision making, poor communication, and forgetfulness. A fatigued mind and body cannot perform effectively on the job, which can lead to serious consequences in situations where alertness is critical for productivity and safety.
