Basic Health and Prevention Practices

  • Do some form of physical activity and stretching for 30 minutes daily
  • Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables for better health and performance
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • If you drink caffeine and alcohol, do so in moderation and drink plenty of water
  • Avoid smoking
  • Take time to relax every day and get enough sleep each night
  • Use a yearly health screening to check your progress on improving basic health
  •

NEW RESEARCH:  SITTING IS KILLING YOU!

We know that too much sitting at work or elsewhere is not good for us.  BUT, a new research study indicates that too much time sitting negatively impacts our heart health, brain function and productivity EVEN IF WE MEET THE RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES FOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY EACH DAY, or in other words, are reasonably physically fit.  Read more HERE.

 

FREE CPR/AED HEARTSAVER CLASSES IN JUNE!

During the first week of June, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital is offering FREE CPR

AED Adult/Child and/or Infant Anytime Program.  This class presents core skills needed to perform CPR/AED on adults and children.  Learn more HERE.
