Intended Audience:The activity content is geared toward physicians and nurses, butall specialties interested in emerging diseases are invited and welcome to attend.

Desired Outcomes: As a result of attending this symposium participants should be able to:

    • Discuss how novel viruses enter the human population and then go on to cause pandemics
    • Identify how health providers and public health professionals are part of world-wide efforts to prevent the transfer of pathogens between humans and animals
    • Recognize and discuss emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in Monterey County
    • This activity will encompass the following desirable physician attributes: Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Professionalism, and Practice-Based Learning and Improvement. The presentational method for this activity will be Lecture, Case Presentation, and Q&A Period, and will be evaluated by each participant at the conclusion of the activity.  

      This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Institute for Medical Quality and the California Medical Association’s CME Accreditation Standards (IMQ/CMA) through the Joint-Sponsorship of NatividadMedical Center and Monterey County Health Education Consortium (MCHEC).
