One Number, Three Regional Offices to Serve You

Between the hours 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, your call is answered by bi-lingual (English/Spanish) Behavioral Health staff. If you are an existing client, your call will be transferred to your Social Worker.

If you have never received Behavioral Health Services in Monterey County you will be asked a few questions, including if you have Medi-Cal. You will then be transferred to a member of the Behavioral Health team at the regional office that is most convenient for you. Regional offices are located in Salinas, King City and on the Monterey Peninsula.

If you do not have Medi-Cal, you will be connected to a member of the Behavioral Health team who will work with you to identify your needs and to connect you to community resources including the Department of Social and Employment Services for Medi-Cal eligibility assistance.

After hours, on weekends and holidays, calls are answered by a local Answering Service with access to interpretation services. They will connect you to the Crisis Team at Natividad Medical Center or, if you are not in crisis, they will take a message and your call will be returned by Behavioral Health the next business day.

What services are available?

During your initial call a member of the Behavioral Health team will provide a brief screening and then either connect you to appropriate community resources or schedule an appointment for a mental health assessment. Assessments and an orientation to mental health services are also available without an appointment on a first-come, first served basis during Walk in Wednesdays/Open Clinics facilitated every Wednesday between 1-3.30pm at each of the regional offices. After your assessment, services are generally available in a group setting.

• Groups for adults consist of six weekly sessions facilitated by Behavioral Health Professionals.

• Services for children and youth include six sessions that may include parents/caregivers within a six month period and are provided by Behavioral Health Professionals and/or community providers.

The need for additional services and supports, as well as specialty mental health services, is assessed on an individual basis.

Are there any fees?

Each individual is assessed for their ability to pay. Individuals with a Medi-Cal “share of cost” will be required to meet their monthly “share of cost.”
