Environmental Health's Recycling and Resource Recovery Services (RRRS) implements and promotes recycling and waste reduction programs throughout the unincorporated areas of Monterey County. We facilitate waste diversion efforts by providing technical assistance, resources, and educational materials.
The staff of RRRS is comprised of a team of Registered Environmental Health Specialists who manage a well-rounded set of programs that support the efforts of Monterey County residents, businesses and visitors to divert waste from landfills in order to preserve Monterey County's unique and varied ecosystems from the harmful impacts of improper waste disposal.
- Implementing programs that remove barriers to waste reduction and promote proper disposal of waste;
- Developing and supporting policies to increase diversion, minimize litter, combat illegal dumping, and increase producer responsibility;
- Educating the community about best practices to increase participation in waste diversion programs; and
- Collaborating with the Monterey County community to maximize the use of resources and standardize practices.
