Public Health Bureau

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) public health nurse provides case management services when a child meets State case criteria. Criteria include:
1.  A child from birth up to 21 years of age
2.  One venous blood lead level (BLL) equal to or greater than 20 mcg/dL
3.  Two BLLs equal to or greater than 15 mcg/dL.  The second specimen must be drawn at least 30 calendar days and no more than 600 days after the first specimen.  The first specimen is not required to be venous, but the second must be a venous blood.

A child with a blood lead level of 20 mcg/dL may be eligible for California Children’s Services if eligibility criteria are met. To refer a child for CCS, use the  CCS Referral Form . The CCS Referral Form can be faxed to 831-796-8690.

For children with blood lead levels that do not meet State case criteria, but whose families would benefit from education about reducing lead exposure, the CLPPP team will provide education.
For information about case management or education, call 831-755-4713. For information about CCS eligibility, call 831-755-4747.
