Public Health Preparedness Program
The Public Health Preparedness Program focuses on ensuring the public health and medical community of Monterey County will be prepared to respond in the event of a disaster.
Are you ready?
Taking simple steps will help to make your family better prepared for an emergency
Get a Kit!
You and your family may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days.
Make a Plan
Your family may not be together when disaster strikes, so it is important to plan in advance: how you will contact one another; how you will get back together; and what you will do in different situations. Make a plan on line!

We are all aware that we should plan for what our family will do in the case of an emergency. This task seems overwhelming but you and your family can do it in small steps and it is worth the investment of your time. There is certainly no need to panic. However, with the news coverage of current disasters, talking with your family about what you all would do in the event of an emergency may help put everyone’s minds at ease. This isn’t much different than surviving a house fire, we know that having a working smoke detector and an exit strategy is just as important as a well trained fire department.
