STRYVE focuses on strategies that prevent youth violence before it starts. With funding and technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Monterey County Health Department advances the importance of prevention through local partners. The STRYVE process recognizes the essential contributions of local organizations to youth violence prevention and supports the collaborative work of the Community Alliance for Safety and Peace (CASP). A detailed analysis of risk and protective factors shown to have a significant impact on youth violence, offers organizations a variety of ways to enhance their existing programs. Participation in an evaluation led by the Health Department provides statistical evidence of each organization’s unique contribution to the prevention of youth violence in Salinas. What can your organization do to prevent youth violence?
