Do you like to support others when they’ve experienced a traumatic event?
Do you like to work with police officers, fire fighters and other emergency responders?
Then we have an opportunity for you!
We are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the Monterey County Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM). This is a volunteer opportunity. Team members get trained to facilitate different levels of response to a critical incident. If you enjoy supporting others through a traumatic event, then this is the team for you! We have responded to County agencies, first responders and citizens of Monterey County. You will receive training by two International Critical Incident Stress Foundation Approved Instructors. You will learn how to facilitate crisis management briefings, defusings and debriefings and one to one peer support.
Research has shown that those who manage the cumulative and acute effects of stress will reduce the chances of developing post traumatic stress symptoms and depression. Fewer workplace sick call-offs occur, and fewer workman’s compensation claims are filed due to stress leave if stress is managed correctly.
Applications must be turned in to Devon Corpus by November 1st, 2013. Interviews will be the week of November 4th. Training will be held at the Behavioral Health Coastal Region Office (299 12th Marina, CA) November 13-15th, 2013.
We are excited to have you join this team!
