Olde Thompson Inc. of Oxnard, CA, is recalling Kirkland Signature Coarse Ground Malabar Pepper 12.7 oz. Plastic Jars with a Best Before date of 03/2017 and Lot Numbers:

This recall is being undertaken with the knowledge of the FDA due to potential for Salmonella contamination. Salmonella bacterium was discovered during routine FDA sampling of consumer products.
The recalled product is identified and distributed as follows:

The product was sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale Club nationwide between April 4, 2014 and June 4, 2014.
If you have the recalled product, please do not consume it. Dispose of the recalled product and its container.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain from 6 to 72 hours after eating contaminated items. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Consumers exhibiting these signs after consuming affected products should contact their health care provider immediately.
