CDC recommends increased vigilance by public health agencies, emergency departments, and healthcare providers.

The Health Department has received 7 reports of new pertussis cases in July so far, indicating a local increase in pertussis activity. Most of the affected individuals were adolescents; however, one case was among an infant less than 3 months of age.
