 LOCATIONS

 The Monterey County WIC Program provides services in Salinas, Seaside, Soledad and King Cit. Together all four WIC sites serve approximately  22,000 women, infants and children each month.

Nutritionists, lactation consultants and WIC nutrition assistants provide culturally appropriate services to eligible families. The Monterey County WIC Program focuses on providing outstanding nutrition education, breastfeeding support and customer service to participants.

What is WIC?          _______________________________________________________________________________________

WIC is a federally-funded health nutrition and breastfeeding program for women, infants, and  children. WIC helps  families by providing breastfeeding support, nutrition education and checks for buying healthy supplemental foods from WIC-authorized vendors. WIC can also help find health care and other community services for clients.

Who is Eligible?                                                     ____________________________________________________________________

 Families with low to medium income that include:                                                          

 •  Pregnant women                                                                                                 

•  Women who are breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age

 •  Women who have had a baby/pregnancy in the past six months

 •  Parents, step-parents, guardians, and foster parents of infants/children under the age of 5 can apply for children in their care

What Shoud I Bring to my First Appointment? ________________________________________________________________________________________

 Bring your infant or child.

 • MEDICAL FORMS: 

    • White for children/infants
    • Blue for womenProof of pregnancy (if applicable)

 • IDENTIFICATION:

    •  Picture ID or Medi-Cal Card
    •  Social Security card or Birth Certificate
    •  Hospital crib cards for newborns

 • CURRENT INCOME:

    •  Pay check stubs from previous month
    •  Medi-Cal, Cash Aid, Child Support
    •  Disability, Unemployment, Social Security

 • ADDRESS with your name on it:

    •  Utility bill or post-marked letter
    •  Driver's license or other form of I
    • Rent receipt
