  • Zika Virus

    Zika virus is spread to people through mosquito bites. The most common symptoms of Zika virus disease are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from several days to a week. Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon.

    All Monterey County residents can now drop off 5 or fewer mattresses for FREE. 

    This program provides an easier way for people to recycle mattresses and helps to avoid people dumping mattresses on the side of the road.  Dumping  mattresses inappropriately has become a big and expensive problem, for example, in 2015,  County Public Works picked up 570 mattresses along county roads.    Details and locations available here
